U.S. to Stop Green Card Denials for Dissidents
The U.S. immigration service said yesterday that it will temporarily stop denying green cards to refugees and other legal immigrants tied to groups that sought to topple foreign dictatorships, placing their cases on hold while it determines more "logical, common-sense" rules for judging them. ...Most of the applications involve people linked to groups that U.S. immigration and counterterrorism laws have defined as "undesignated terrorist organizations" because they took armed action against a foreign government. The U.S. Department of State Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights, and Labor released it yearly country report on Ethiopia on March 11, 2008. Titled "Country Reports on Human Rights Practices – 2007", the report confirms, among other atrocities of TPLF, the cold blooded murder of innocent students in Guyii, Oromia; the banning of “a traditional animist Oromo religious group”; the wide spread rounding up and arresting of Oromo nationals prior to and during the so-called Ethiopian Millennium.
